v General information:
- Alignment: New Can Giuoc Terminal– Highway No.50 – Tung Thien Vuong – Phu Dong Thien Vuong – Ly Thuong Kiet – Hoang Van Thu – Phan Dang Luu – Bach Dang – Dien Bien Phu – Sai Gon Bridge
- Total length: 23,39 km.
- This project is separated into 2 phases:
a) Phase 1 (Bay Hien Intersection – Sai Gon Bridge)
- Total length: 8.89 km (7.46 km underground and 1.43 km elevated).
- Number of station: 9 stations (including 8 underground stations and 01 elevated station).
- Mini depot at Hoang Van Thu park with an area of 2 ha.
- Donor: Kingdom of Spain (ODA fund), ADB, EIB, KfW.
- Project cost (estimated): 1.563 billion Euro.
- Implementation progress:
+ Investment policy: the Prime Minister has allowed investment separation.
+ Project implementation preparation: Implementing the bidding of FEED design.
+ Boundary Profiles: Department of Transportation is reviewing.
b) Phase 2 (Bay Hien intersection – New Can Giuoc Bus Station) and Da Phuoc depot.
- Total length: 14.5 km (8.9 km underground and 5.6 km elevated).
- Number of station: 13 stations (8 underground stations and 5 elevated stations).
- Depot and workshop at Da Phuoc ward in Binh Chanh district with an area of 31.68 ha.
- Total investment cost (estimated): 2.183 billion Euro.

- Implementation progress:
+ MAUR has implemented the Technical Assistant (implementing the Pre-Feasibility Study and Feasibility Study of the metro line 5 phase 2 project) funded by Korea Government (KOICA).
+ The Pre-Feasibility Study is expected to be completed and submitted to the National Assembly of Vietnam for the investment approval in 2017.
